FAST FOOD (2017)

Mothers you have given birth to your sons so that they might love and not hate, build and not destroy-not bring misery and a curse upon the world but work cooperatively to enable every person to have a dignified existence. You have not given birth to your sons for war, for employing violence, but so that they might participate in the important work of bring people God’s peace. Mothers, these your sons whose hands you fold, teach to pray the "Our Father" on their knees, are then on the cold command of international capitalism forced by a few power politicians and profit-hungry men to be always prepared to murder on their command and to sacrifice their life for them. Mothers! Don't you know what our Lord commands? "You shall not, you may not kill" commands Christ the Lord. International capital and international leaders, however, command, "Your sons must kill and sacrifice their lives if we wish and order it:' And even the Churches administer the oath by which your sons swear to the heavens that they will blindly kill on command. But, don't you know that you must obey God more than human beings? Don’t you know that we all are and should be brothers and sisters of a loving Father who is in heaven, who lets the sun rise on the good and the bad, and rain fall on the just and unjust, and who teaches all, whatever their nationality, to pray, "Our Father.” Therefore, regardless of what men who flirt with violence and military preparedness may say and order, Mothers must shout: "Never.”

Of course, there are women who want to place the entire women's world into the service of war. Nazi Reich Women's Leader, Gertrud Scholtz-Klink, in her Mothers’ Day speech, titled, “You Are the Support of the Fatherland,” asserted:

Mothers are giving life twice. Once when as young women they give birth, and today when they continue to sacrifice life, doing both for their fatherland. They are giving their sons for a newly created Europe, just as they once bore their own pains for Germany. However, what they are sacrificing today is incomparably harder than the labor pains they once suffered because at the end of that pain there was a life they could hold, while today the mother is left empty-handed and has to console herself that there is something greater behind those empty hands, namely, the supra-personal life of her nation! The ultimate meaning of this war and the heroic struggle of our men and brothers is to guarantee the existence of our nation for eternity. There is no other way for a nation to secure its eternal existence than the commitment of its mothers and soldiers with their own blood

We Christian conscientious objectors now ask German women and mothers: According to Frau Scholtz-Klink's exacting demand, do you really want to bring children into the world so that your sons can bleed to death in horrible pain on the battlefield, while those children who are still too young for the front are destroyed by bombs? Do you really believe that this guarantees the eternal existence of our nation?

In ordinary life one often hears the expression: “This does not concern me.” With these words, Christians try to dismiss any blame or responsibility for something or an event, e.g., war, mass starvation, etc. These and similar statements prove that Christians are not thinking rationally because a thoughtful person will conclude that everything that happens in the world concerns every single human being and that all of our actions—even our most secret thoughts and all that is our duty to do but we omit to do—in time will take on an importance beyond the purely personal. In other words: Everything that we do or fail to do affects our society because, according to God’s plan, the entire universe is a unified entity into which every being fits and has thousands upon thousands of connections. Every one of our thoughts, words and actions are significant first to the immediate surroundings in which we live. Every one of us, also, influences the larger environment either positively or negatively. Whatever we do or omit to do draws wider and wider circles, just like a stone tossed into a lake. This is how every person makes history. Long after we are gone, everything we did, either good or bad, continues to have repercussions, and over time ever wider radiating consequences.

Parents give their very young children war toys and thus poison their gentle souls with the notion of the most brutal violence and prepare them for the “heroism” of war? Is not the goal of the so-called pre-military education of youths, that the entire population embraces or ignores, to make them willing to fight in war? Do not our schools and churches and the press make the “soldier ideal,” that is the constant willingness to murder and destroy, appear as something extremely desirable and as the noblest profession a man can have? When we ponder that in all schools in the world children are already inoculated with the spirit of war, then we understand that the ideas of military readiness, war, and “heroism” have literally corroded the minds of all of humanity and prepared the nations of the world to institute universal military service by which the entire world has been transformed into a perpetual war camp. It is pure hypocrisy if any country waging war says it is not responsible for the war. If today children—immature boys—are armed with toy daggers and gun as is the practice, it indicates a total incapacity to provide youth with a proper Christian moral education. Any Christian who says, “This does not concern me,” should immediately search his conscience.

Lies and violence characterize the spirit of our era. The objective of the world, which God condemned, is to satisfy people’s lust for pleasure and power at the cost of others. Let us not be deceived: The politics of all of our so-called civilized states is godless and unchristian and, therefore, centered on war, not on peace. Why do all nations establish such extensive and expensive espionage agencies all over the world if not to search out the weakness of their opponents and to cleverly use them in war? Above all, there are the deceitful and hypocritical intrigues of diplomats everywhere—which cannot be condemned enough. As hirelings of some form of interest capitalism they have to see to it that high mountains of inflammatory material, often disseminated everywhere by an irresponsible and bribable press, is ignited here or there as needed. Cleverly, they make sure that there are scapegoats to blame for the outbreak of the war, if in no other way than by barefaced lies. All the commandments, which Christ asked His disciples to obey, are aimed to conquer this spirit of the world.
